Family

You go through life wondering what is it all about but at the end of the day it’s all about family.

A huge part of our original incentive to visit Melbourne was the opportunity to visit a cousin of mine, Monica Fuller, who I haven’t seen in 50 years, and considering I’m now 54 I don’t particularly remember it very well.  Monica had emigrated with her husband, two children, another on the way and a desire to be the best at whatever she wanted.  And she did.  Over many years of hard graft, she and her family built their business and homes in and around Melbourne including the massively successful Sails on The Bay restaurant.  Now looking for newer and more exciting opportunities Monica and her family are forever grateful for everything that Melbourne and Australia have provided them.

We had a fantastic day together, after catching up with histories and family tales from all of us and trying to piece together a who’s who in the family tree we drove the short distance to have lunch down by the Black Rock Yacht Club at the Cerberus Beach House restaurant, I can seriously recomment the Seafood Linguine.  Afterwards we went on to do some shopping at the huge (to us) Southland center followed by drinks and a Gold Class movie watching experience to see Hotel Mumbai.  What a movie – graphic and gripping, not for the feint hearted but well worth a watch.  Take hankies.  Back to Monica’s house for a quick cuppa and a few more family tales and we made an end to a fantastic day out – we’re going to plan a re-visit before we leave hopefully.
